Police officers answered a 911 report of an assault in progress at a ground-floor garden apartment in the Fresh Meadows neighborhood of Queens. When responders entered the unit at 194-15 64th Ave., they encountered a harrowing scene: two people suffering from multiple stab wounds. The occupants, identified as a 71-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, were found critically injured and were rapidly taken to hospitals, but both died shortly afterward.
The incident has been described by law enforcement as an active homicide investigation. Authorities have not announced any arrests, and detectives remain at the scene and in the surrounding area gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Initial response and medical transport
Officers arrived on site after the emergency call and entered the apartment to locate the victims. They found both the man and the woman with multiple penetrating injuries consistent with stabbing. Emergency medical services transported the man to New York-Presbyterian and took the woman to North Shore University Hospital. Despite efforts by medical teams, the injuries proved fatal and both victims were pronounced dead at their respective hospitals.
