The community of Menands is in mourning following the tragic discovery of 7-year-old Harbe Nagi, who was reported missing on Sunday afternoon. The search for Harbe, a nonverbal autistic boy, lasted more than 30 hours, with police and community members tirelessly combing the area.

The search efforts began on Sunday, June 28, 2026, around 4 p.m., after Harbe was reported missing from a graduation party on Park Road. Harbe was last seen in the lower portion of Park Drive where it meets Ward Lane. He was wearing a light T-shirt and dark pants but no shoes. Standing at 3 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 48 pounds, Harbe is known to wander and explore.

The Search Efforts

Search teams, including police and community volunteers, scoured wooded areas and bodies of water, utilizing drones to aid in the search. The efforts were intensified on Monday, with more daylight allowing for a more thorough search of the area. Police urged residents to check their properties, including yards, outbuildings, and any water bodies like pools and ponds.

“Really look at your own property, especially folks nearby, check your yards, outbuildings, any water body, pools, ponds, any attractive nuisance like that, and repeatedly check those things over and over again,” police advised. They also requested that residents check their Ring cameras for any possible footage that could aid in the search.

The Community’s Response

The search for Harbe weighed heavily on the community, with many residents expressing their concern and empathy for the family. Kelly Rogalo shared, “I just feel for the parents and the family because I could never even imagine losing my own kid.” Lucas Stamfield added, “I know if I was missing, my mom would be out there searching for me.”

Steven Figueroa urged others to join the search efforts, stating, “Please feel free and join the efforts in trying to find this little kid. I can imagine the family and how they’re feeling, you know, it’s their child. So I can imagine the emotions they’re going through.”

The Tragic Discovery

Despite the extensive search efforts, Harbe was found dead hours after the search entered its third day. The news has left the community in shock and sorrow. Police have stated that there is no suspicion of foul play in Harbe’s disappearance.
