The incident, which occurred around 2:15 p.m., involved a woman who circumvented standard airport security protocols prompting a response from the monroe county Sheriff’s Office.

The Incident and Response
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assigned to the airport’s security unit were alerted to a breach at an exit leading from the secure screening area to the baggage claim. Airport Communications collaborated with deputies to review surveillance footage and identify the individual involved.
Investigators located the woman, later identified as 25-year-old Ithalis Justiniano, on a commercial aircraft at Gate A2. Deputies boarded the plane and escorted her off without incident. Justiniano had previously completed TSA screening but left the secure area through a designated exit instead of proceeding to her departure gate.
When Justiniano attempted to reenter the secure area through the same exit, airport security personnel informed her that she needed to go back through the TSA checkpoint. Despite this instruction, Justiniano waited for the exit doors to open and reentered the secure area, violating airport security protocols.
