The Flood Watch indicates that flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Rounds of heavy showers with embedded thunderstorms are expected through this afternoon. Localized rainfall rates of 1 to possibly 2 inches per hour may result in localized flash flooding. Excessive runoff could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
In the event of a flood, contact emergency services by calling 911. Follow guidance from the NWS and local authorities. Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Avoid low-lying areas and be ready to move to higher ground if necessary.
