Gas prices in New York have dipped to $4.042 per gallon this week, slightly below the national average of $4.049. Diesel prices remain higher, averaging $5.454 per gallon across the country.
Prices at the pump have fallen by -0.05% compared to last week, marking the third consecutive week of declines. The lowest price recorded in the past five weeks was $4.042, while the highest was $4.138, indicating a -0.86% decrease from the peak.
New York’s gas prices are in line with the national average, standing at -0.17% below the U.S. mean. For context, California currently has the highest gas prices in the country at $5.397 per gallon, while Texas offers the lowest at $3.619 per gallon.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the spread between gasoline and diesel prices remains significant, with diesel costing notably more per gallon.
