Security Measures Around Madison Square Garden
A security perimeter will be established around Madison Square Garden, similar to the measures implemented for Game 3. This perimeter will extend from West 29th Street to West 35th Street, between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue. Starting at 4 p.m., access to the secure area will be restricted to individuals with game tickets, train tickets, or those conducting business within the area.
Four designated entry points will be set up for screening, located at the west side of Sixth Avenue at West 33rd Street, west side of Sixth Avenue at West 32nd Street, west side of Eighth Avenue at West 33rd Street, and the northeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 30th Street. Screening locations will open at 4:30 p.m., and fans are advised to arrive early to allow sufficient time for security checks.
Certain items will not be permitted inside the secure area, including backpacks, bags, alcohol, and umbrellas. Exceptions will be made for travelers entering Penn Station, who will be allowed to carry bags needed for travel but are subject to security screening.
Watch Party Locations and Details
A ticketed watch party will take place outside Madison Square Garden at Plaza33. This event, organized by Madison Square Garden Sports Corp., will accommodate 1,000 ticketed attendees who will undergo screening upon entry. Attendees will only be allowed to enter through the access point on the west side of Sixth Avenue at West 33rd Street, and there will be no reentry once they leave the designated area.
Additional watch parties will be held at Wollman Rink in Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl. These events provide alternative locations for fans to gather and enjoy the game together.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has urged New Yorkers to celebrate responsibly, emphasizing the historic significance of the moment. “This is a historic, joyful moment for our city. We will not allow it to be disrupted by violence,” he stated, adding, “Knicks in 5.”
Traffic and Transit Information
Starting at 4 p.m., Seventh Avenue between West 29th Street and West 35th Street will be closed to vehicular and general pedestrian traffic. Eighth Avenue will remain open to vehicular traffic but is subject to closure if conditions necessitate. Pedestrians are advised to avoid the area unless they have a specific reason to be there.
Fans leaving Madison Square Garden after the game will be able to access public transit at Penn Station. Those exiting the arena onto Eighth Avenue will only be able to walk southbound on the east side of Eighth Avenue until they reach 28th Street. East and west egress from Eighth Avenue will only be possible starting at 28th Street.
For access to transportation at Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station, fans should use the entrances to Moynihan Station on the west side of Eighth Avenue at 31st and 33rd Streets, which will be outside of the secure area. No service changes or disruptions are anticipated as a result of the security plan.
